From Thomas Fuller's new novel, "The Classical World"
Fuller sent me the manuscript Friday.
He'd put a cover on it, somehow.
I texted him and asked if his new novel was at all related to his old novel, "Monsieur Ambivalence."
He hasn't answered.
I opened the manuscript at random just now, toward the very end, and read:
'Sooner or later, life makes you courageous.
You'll either come to the conclusion you've had enough or that you really are above everyone else and will live forever.
The closer you come to a decision the easier it is to make.
Say what you will, nothing is ever as good as it was – it's always better. And admit that you've considered murder at least once in your life, you've thought of taking someone out.'
