Canceling the reservation

The people who displease him at the moment are people who say, "perfect" each time in response to the questions he answered that they've asked him.

If things were perfect, he wouldn't be asking the questions, nor would they be answering much less with the word, 'perfect.'

These people are much younger than he is and it's only just a word, 'perfect', but still its use as a phrase in answer to the questions they've asked and he's answered, while surely meant to satisfy him are instead an annoyance, and indicates something profoundly wrong with the world.
