The Museum of Mass Shootings
(Open Mic Night in Red States).
A drawing has been submitted to the Oversight Committee for a new national shrine—The Museum of Mass Shootings.
The architectural rendering is of a square that is not perfectly square but is square enough to act as a square, therefore it is somewhat square, as are so many of these monuments that don’t know whether to be representative of federal oversight or of states’ rights.
The square, such as it is, is intended to allow a certain amount of terror to enter its perimeter, provided that the entering terror is allowed never to escape, eventually dying a withering death, a death without headlines or news coverage.
Those outside the square gradually learn to live without celebrities. They see that these people are actually interfering with their lives, are often doing their living for them, and they’re quite angry.
