Thanksgiving eve

It's the time of year when I don't want to know anything new, having everything I really need to know already.

It's raining, the trees in the park look happy, happy to be hearing a sound they haven't heard much of lately.

I could have said yesterday what I'll say today, though I'm glad I didn't say it yesterday, I wasn't quite ready: that freedom only means something to those who aren't free. Freedom is the philosophical equivalent of the inversion in yoga--a yoga pose in which the yogi's heart is at a higher level than the head--a word meant to be used only by those aware of its real meaning. A favored word of politicians and the judges they appoint, freedom only means something to those the politicians and judges take advantage of and oppress.

When I open the window just now, the weather starts to clear. The sun's shining in the north. I feel a day could be coming that wants to turn everything into a Christmas present for me and for you.
