Post Neo-Conservatism
Someone asked me this morning, 'what's your day like'?
'Being anti-social until 6 p.m.', I said.
It's a good answer because it's true--I've reserved the morning for my own writing--but the man who asked the question and who would like to meet with me this morning to discuss a writing project of his own doesn't see it that way.
I thought my relationship with him was flexible enough to allow for the spontaneity of honesty, in which we both have our feelings hurt from time to time but rise above these feelings in honor of our friendship.
Maybe I was wrong about him and the nature of our relationship from the beginning, or am wrong now thinking that he's hurt by what I said when he's not hurt at all but only says he is.
