Sunrise through a broken window

Newton had his apple.

And I have mine, but it's a pear.

Newton's apple fell on his head in the garden of his mother's home in Lincolnshire, England.

It's said that the falling apple, an accident, prompted Newton to develop his theory of gravity: that every physical object is inexorably pulled to the earth.

Last evening, after I ate my pear I tossed what was left of into the Wyoming wilderness.

Thanks to Newton I already knew that my pear would fall to earth.

What I don't know is if my pear would still be there in the morning.
