James Joyce
Has a study been made of the relationship between one 's eyesight and one's frame of mind?
By this I mean there must be a definite link between the two.
If one sees poorly one tends to be depressed, and if one sees clearly one tends to be buoyant.
However, the reverse could be the case as well.
James Joyce saw poorly, there being some evidence that the trouble he had with his eyes was linked to a syphilitic episode he had as a young man, yet he was the most ecstatic of writers.
Rather than take a pill, a new pair of eye glasses might provide the sort of new perspective that could lift an otherwise sunk spirit.
As does Irish whiskey.
