Roger Federer
He didn't know what he'd do without his affliction.
It had become one of the things he liked best about himself, but its cause remained a mystery in much the same way the cause of World War I remains mysterious.
At some point in his valiant struggle he realized he'd never really know what he was struggling against, and so he surrendered.
Silence laid down its arms, every word it uttered made such perfect sense he thought he could listen to it forever. All darkness was darkness made just for him, he had it all to himself while the others were sleeping.
And once he woke he wanted to keep waking. This was his new victory, and he saw that it might last the rest of his life.
