Cuff links

The speech was pretty good, but was the speaker wearing cuff links?

One of us thought he was wearing cuff links and one of thought he wasn't. That he was wearing cuff links meant something to one of us and didn't mean much to the other. We couldn't settle the matter democratically since there were only two of us.

We both agreed that there's something missing in a man who wears cuff links, in the same way there's something missing in a man who gets a tattoo thought there was something missing in the time leading up to the time he got the tattoo.

If they were Presidential cuff links and there was historical precedent for wearing cuff links while giving a speech, that's one thing. But if the cuff links were merely a personal adornment, like the cuff links worn by Jamie Dimon, the CEO of Chase Bank who so often testifies before Congress, that's another.

We both like the President and are glad he's our President, though one of us likes him slightly less than the other, believing that what the President says and what he does are often mis-matched.

Both of us hoped those were buttons at the end of his shirtsleeves, and that the shirt was purchased at Brooks Brothers or Banana Republic or J Crew, but this might be wishful thinking.
