William Blake

The marvel of insomnia is that it keeps the lamp awake.

With the light you may read William Blake or wonder if the mosquitos are breeding in the raingutters.

By 3 a.m. a conclusion's been reached: that the mosquitos breed in the raingutter and get in the house through the open window in your bedroom.

But you can't sleep without a window open.

The mosquito knew right where you were. It had surprise on its side and flew right into your left ear, not to enlighten you but to remind you that the smallest things have the power not only to wake you but to keep you awake.
