Diary of a Cloud above Stanford University
Woke without anxiety.
Permitted myself to drift in leisurely fashion.
Lingered above Hoover Tower, took a peek in at Solzhenitsyn's apartment on the 11th floor, then learned he'd left in 1976.
Watched with amusement as others tried to find the entrance to the Cantor Arts Center, exhilarated that I'd been invited to "The Art of the Book" exhibit and could see for myself the proper entry point.
Descended, accepted a glass of chardonnay and a canape, mingled amongst the Bay Area literati. Particularly impressed with Peter Koch, Ninja, and Turkey Press. Pressed the flesh of Sandra and Harry Reese, Turkey founders.
Wandered through the other galleries, saddened by the sudden passing of Leland Stanford Jr. of typhoid at age 18 in Venice, Italy. Almost wept at the sight of his death mask.
Headed east toward the freeway, stopping for dinner at a small bistro on University Avenue in Palo Alto. In bed by 11.
