Junker goes national

The quixotic literary adventures of San Francisco's Howard Junker continue, on a slightly larger stage.

An AP wire service story broke yesterday, landing Junker and his new book, "An Old Junker" (IF SF Publishing, 2011) in newspapers across the country, from Kansas City to Tuscaloosa, Gettysberg to Seattle.

Junker, pictured here on California Street in San Francisco at one of his novel 'pop up readings'--which critics now believe was perhaps his first or second such performance--pioneered the form, giving 'site specific' readings from his almost unclassifiable literary concoction, a narrative construct assembled from daily blogs Junker posted for five years, to small but select congregations throughout the city.

What's next for Junker? His publicist thinks an appearance on Letterman is not out of the question. His publisher is hopeful, enjoying the moments of well-deserved celebrity one of his authors has so artfully acheived, if vicariously.
