Raj Shah, a White House deputy press secretary, referred to Gaza as "southern Israel."
The two pastors selected to 'bless' the new American Embassy in Jerusalem--both Christian evangelicals, one of whom spoke at President Trump's inaugural prayer service--have made incendiary comments in the past: one of them saying that Hitler's Holocaust was "part of God's plan to return Jews to Israel" and the other giving a sermon at his Dallas, TX. megachurch with the title, "Gay is Not O.K."
Jared Kushner, senior advisor to Trump, entrusted with ending the Middle East conflict, argued that moving the US embassy from Tel-Aviv to Jerusalem was not an abandonment of the peace process but a precursor to it. "When there is peace in this region, we will look back on this day and remember that the journey to peace started with a strong America recognizing the truth."
Kushner's wife, Ivanka Trump, unveiled a stone marker etched with her father's name on the new American Embassy as an audience of 800 religious conservatives and right-wing politicians from both countries sang, "Hallelujah."
Sheldon Adelson, the influential Jewish Republican donor, sat in the front row. Steven Mnuchin, US Secretary of the Treasury, was there too.
Less than 40 miles away Palestinians rushed the fence bordering Israel where they were met by snipers from the Israeli army. At least 58 Palestinians were killed and thousands injured. Many of those injured were shot in the leg by Israeli soldiers.
