Letter from Las Vegas: guest blog by Blair Roddan
Dear Brooks:
Since I went to my barber yesterday, I thought of you for some reason.
I think it goes back to my remembrances of George Timme cutting my hair when I was a kid at Plaza Barbers. I remember getting Double Bubble bubble gum when he finished my hair cut.
My barber for the last 17 years has been Cliff Wolosin who owns Cliff's Barber Corral, not far away from my house. He cuts my hair as any normal barber would but adds the warm shaving cream and straight-edge razor on the neck area. Then he massages my scalp with one of those hand-held massagers. It is kind of old-fashioned, but that's the way Cliff is. He has a big screen TV usually showing old westerns, because that's what he likes. There are antiques all over the shop. No rhyme of reason for them, but they are there just the same. Whenever I go there it seems to be a step back in time. Even the barber chairs are old, but restored.
When I was there yesterday he mentioned that he had done 2 new videos for YouTube. Being that Cliff is such a character, I thought to myself, it figures. So tonight I went to YouTube and searched Cliff's Barber Corral and watched many of them. They truly reflect him and his personality. I have included a link below so you can see his shop and who he is. Cliff, in and of himself, is a great human interest story. In the video I sent you, you will see his passion for what he does. He is a remarkable human being. We need more business owners like him.
Enjoy the video.
Love,
Blazer
