Headlines, body copy, Beckett
Headline: Thomas Altizer, Proponent of 'God Is Dead' Theology in the 1960s, Is Dead at 91. *
The most telling aspect in the reporting of the Yellow Vest protests in France are the repeated comments made by the protestors that they no longer have the resources--after paying for food, shelter, gas etc.--'to go out to eat at a restaurant'.
Body Copy: Mr. Trump is acutely aware of the threat an economic downturn poses to the foundation of his presidency. That has made him receptive to the counsel of moderates like Mr. Mnuchin and Mr. Kudlow, as well as outsiders like the Wall Street financier Stephen A. Schwarzman who have been warning him he will be blamed for job losses, market losses and other economic damage from a prolonged trade war with China. **
The last time I was in France, summer 2016, I pulled into a rest stop on my way from Clermont-Ferrand to Lyon, having had enough of driving. As I got out of my car a scruffy parade of men marched by me; there were at least twenty or so men, more or less walking together, in some semblance of brotherhood. I thought 'who are these guys?' Only later did I realize they were long-distance truck drivers, taking a little break from the drudgery, fumes, and monotony of their above-ground coal mine, men who probably had never met before but were brothers for a few moments:that image will always be with me, a personal headline with body copy.
"Leave, I was going to say leave all that. What matter who's speaking, someone said what matter who's speaking. There's going to be a departure, I'll be there, I won't miss it, it won't be me, I'll be here, I'll say I'm far from here, it won't be me, I won't say anything, there's going to be a story, someone's going to try and tell a story. Yes, no more denials, all is false, there is no one, it's understood, there is nothing, no more phrases, let us be dupes, dupes of every time and tense, until it's done, all past and done, and the voices cease, it's only voices, only lies." ***
