Grocery story
For a writer the job is to bring the outside goods in.
You have to ask yourself as you're writing, did I get the song that I'm hearing and, if I did, how does it make me feel.
The problem is that all the algorithims have been shattered. We live in a time when words mean less and less and more and more at the same time.
A writer has to listen to what he can't hear, doesn't want to hear, will never hear, and what he is hearing as he walks through the aisles of Safeway, all at the same time.
Then, finally reaching the checkout counter, he must disengage his earbuds, look the person who's bagging his groceries in the eye and say, thank you for being here and doing what you do.
