Passive-aggressive book review

Somebody asks, "what are you reading"? And of course I can't tell them, I either can't remember what I'm reading at the moment or I know what I'm reading won't interest them, or--and this is usually the case--I either know, intuitively, that what I'm reading won't interest them or, and this is also usually the case, that they're asking just to be polite and aren't really interested in knowing what I'm reading at all, either not being readers or having their own books to read which are very different than the books I read.

I don't recommend books, unless someone asks specifically for a recommendation. If they do I tell them their life will be less than what it could become if they fail to read "Zeno's Conscience" by Italo Svevo.
