What if psychologists were to find that the ego is the part of one's being that's a pathological liar; that is, the ego's part of one's being that lies for no reason, no benefit.

I for one wouldn't be surprised. I think I'll think more about the notion and, after I've thought it all out, I'll begin practicing for my Ted Talk on the subject no one's asked me to give.
