Our friends Karen and Armand have tickets to see "Pericles" in Ashland, a seldom produced play, and visited Powell's bookstore yesterday to become acquainted with the text prior to seeing it performed on stage.

I ask if they'd taken advantage of the free bookmarks Powell's provides its customers, or if they'd ever read haiku by Jack Kerouac.
