Are Mormons Allowed to Drink Coffee?
Waffabuti is a word Tray, age 5, made up yesterday.
'You're a waffabuti,' Tray said to me.
Always on the lookout for new words that might aid in my journey toward self-definition, I accepted myself as a 'waffabuti' and decided to search for its deep meaning.
Meantime, the ladies with bee-stung lips gathered for coffee at Starbucks on the corner of 2100 S. and 1700 in Salt Lake City.
I wondered, are these ladies allowed to drink coffee? Or were they chucka-muckas, another word made up by Tray, which translates, I think, 'Mormons who drink coffee do so because they like the taste of it.'
Salt Lake is at least in the Top Ten of the most compelling cities in the world. By compelling I mean beautiful and confused, being full of unexpectedness, and not what people who've never been here or who've only passed through think it is at all.
Waffabuti and chucka-mucka.
