Little Bird, Portland

My first movie. Only a few lines spoken, but a beginning.

'I'd like the butter lettuce and lentil salad, then the fillet of black cod.'

The director said that wasn't a big enough meal for two people. He sat down beside me and scribbled for awhile. Everyone on the set was quiet, even the extras who were dining in the room below.

'I want you to order the cassoulet,' the director said, handing me the piece of paper with the words, 'and the cassoulet, si vous plait, as I've heard good things about it. Could you also advise on the wine...I'm thinking white.'

I did as I was told. The scene was nailed on the 3rd take. My companion--who had no speaking part but who the camera found felicititious--and I were free to finish our feast and to watch the diners below, who were enjoying the scene as if they too were in a movie.
