Manhattan Beach
Every morning I wake up confused. I think it's my fate to wake up this way and to progressively work through the confusion during the day so that I can wake up confused again the next morning.
Some places are more compatible with this progression than others, and some places don't allow me to live this way at all, but that's a whole other story.
It's the same story with things, that when something's really bad it becomes something else, but when something's really good it becomes itself.
There always seems to be a certain time of day when it's possible to see that all human relationships are determined by who decides to live at who's pace. It's usually close to sunset, when the light of the western sky and the light of the championship game on CBS become one. Then one of us can see the tv screen and one can scan the coast from Palos Verdes to Malibu, and both of us can be happy at the same time, even if I'm always the one designated to wake up confused.
