Capitalism is the only system that causes one to ask almost continually, can I get my money back?
One of the pinions of capitalism is to invent new forms of servitude, cloaked as believably as possible in the individual servant's self-described notion of freedom.
And so the system welcomes both the rich girl who studied literature at Bard or some other rich-girl college on the east coast and has come home to the Bay Area with no job prospects and nothing to do, but has a rich daddy buy her a literary magazine and rent an office downtown so that she can appear to be both 'in the arts' and running a business, and the literary artist herself who is most-likely much poorer but has something the rich girl can't live without.
Art is made by people who may be troubled but who are rich in themselves; art is paid for by people who have money but who aren't as rich and who are convinced they need the richness of art so badly they'd do almost anything to get it.
