Van Morrison
When I think about how much responsibility was heaped upon the writer from the very beginning--the making public of private thought--I stop writing.
And that so many of the earliest writings from the classical world--6 b.c.--were either titled, On the Nature of Things or Works and Days makes me feel tired.
It's like I'm not doing enough to make the world a better place, and that enough can never be done.
Maybe I'll just listen to the music of Van Morrison, especially that era when he lived in Marin County and wrote songs about redwood trees and bliss.
Or look through my pictures to see if there are any scenes I can't remember seeing and, if there are, to try to remember what the scenes meant to me when I stopped doing what I was doing and made the picture.
I could give the day the day off so that it doesn't have to be a day, it doesn't have to do anything it doesn't want to do. That's completely within my rights as a human being.
