Short story

I took this picture of paint peeling off the backside of The General Store on Judah in The Sunset yesterday to prove to Tasha that sometimes the sun shines in San Francisco.

You can see the sunlight on the wood and tell from the shadows cast by the chipped paint that the sun is shining.

It's actually quite a beautiful image.

The image qualifies as being a thing of no inherent interest, a image that requires a creative investment on the part of the viewer to make it mean anything.

Tasha and Treyvion and Spencer had driven out to the coast from Salt Lake City. Treyvion, 2, had never seen the ocean and Spencer wanted to show him some tidepools. They spent a couple of days in San Simeon and Big Sur and then drove up north to stay with us.

In the morning we walked the bridge. It was cold and foggy. The next day they had to leave for Utah, having never seen the sun in San Francisco.
