Making a list of poets

Dante, for placing man at the center.

Keats, for fulfilling romanticism to the extreme.

Rimbaud, for purposely disordering the senses.

Whitman, for being the first poet of the last new world.

Neruda, for his love of warm bodies.

And Ryokan (1758-1831) who wrote

   Who says my poems are poems?

   My poems are not poems.

   And when you know my poems are not poems

   Then we can talk about poetry.
