Mrs. Riley

Mrs. Riley's kitchen is beside the pier in Crail, Scotland. It's a little place tucked beneath a boathouse.

Her sons are lobsterman in the fished-out Firth of Forth where only shellfish and squid now make themselves available. The lobsters and crabs her sons catch but can't sell commercially are sold to Mrs. Riley, presumably at an advantageous price.

You can pick your lobster from a tub of cold water and Mrs. Riley will cook it and serve it on a tray with glasses, paper towels, lemon slices and cutlery.

There's a little bench with a awning where you can eat pretty comfortably even in the rain and wind, which is often the case in Scotland.

Mrs. Riley had a stroke a little while ago and isn't doing too well at the moment. Now her friend Anne helps out when she can.
