All of a sudden

Out of nowhere.

The lights go dim and dimmer, flicker once or twice, then kaput. Something's wrong with the electricity, the transformer's down.

Thunder rolls a bowling ball through the valley, then another and another. Boulders shudder.

Rain pummels the tin roof. The gutter may not hold, never mind the center.

In the mountains, lightning seeks a target or two. Once it's made up its mind, it never misses.

Everything drowns in everything happening at once.

And then it's all over.

Somewhere.
