White hot core of being

Alley, id to the streets' ego.

Little boys on bikes in small towns in the Rockies would rather ride through them than down Main Street, believing they have a better chance of seeing what shouldn't be seen, otherwise aimlessly riding, having nothing better to do on a hot summer day.

Dust, garbage, objects that didn't sell, cast off clothes--all the attractions of the forbidden.

They keep riding and riding until the mountains come to meet them at least halfway. But this happens later, after they've become men and know themselves and have decided what to do with their lives.
