Overheard at the Cody Wal-Mart

Chitchat between two yellow birds of mixed Anglo and asian ancestry the other day as they awaited their fate in the cavernous superstore:

"Don't these people know they're living in a concentration camp of fake capitalism where a category of production and consumption has been created that transcends wants and needs?"

"You think too much. Sit back, relax, it's quite possible you'll be gone tomorrow. I see that little girl looking at you like she wants to take you home..."

"...ah, but her mother has her eyes on a new set of glassware and the row of special summer dresses--two for $30--on aisle 3."
