as the brain brains

Stan Rice said a poem is "the brain, braining."

When visiting the designer Tom Ingalls office in Potrero Hill the other day and remarking on the remarkable tableau his workspace presented, Tom said it "looks like my brain."

And so the brain may be Buddha himself sitting on a wall surrounded by Post-It notes, or a picture of something that looks something like that.

*(There will be more on the nature of the poem, and the consciousness involved in the making of poetry, tomorrow when Michael Hannon, author of Lyrica (IF SF, 2011), leads off the first IF SF Conversation, a series of interviews conducted by the Publisher.)
