On receiving the news of Amazon's "Best Books of 2011"

Because he has a hundred dollar bill no one else knows about, he's going out tonight to see if he can eat a hundred dollars worth of sushi, in honor of the Amazon Award Winners.

Before he goes he's going to pour a couple of fingers of El Tesoro, Anejo into a glass to see how it gets along with one cube of ice, to see which one of them wins, while he salutes the victors.

From the upstairs window he'll watch the sun set and the bridge begin to glow with the light of people in their cars, traveling home.

It's possible too that he'll pick up one of the books he keeps around and start reading. So many of them need the attention only he can give them.

When it comes time to leave for the restaurant, he may or may not go. He's happy there's no rush, that the books he depends on are there waiting to be read one more time.
