Boy at breakfast table
You get one chance at god, sooner or later, if you're lucky .
And that chance, if made good, can last a lifetime or leave you alone with just that one chance.
The time that's here has always been here. It's nothing new, though we may have a new awareness of it: that it is always here.
The second child in us--and we are all second children, even if we were first--needs our love or at least the chance to get up from the table and go outside, to look around to see what it's like to be alone.
Out there, at a certain time, three bells ring--one, two, three--and then the one bell rings again, a certain number of times, to tell the boy what time it is.
And the one chance at god is either coming or going, and lasts as long as you are lucky, whoever you are.
